If the format is supported, clean the disk and
attempt the failing operation again.
If the operation fails again and results in the same
reference code, ask your media source for a replacement
disk.
If cleaning or replacing the disk does not correct the problem, exchange the
failing items. Determine the failing items with the following steps.
Determine the device model using one of the methods below.
If you are viewing this SRC from the Service Action Log (SAL) then search for the symbolic FRU callout "OPTD005". If "OPTD005" is listed then the device is a model 005 optical device. Continue with the next step in this procedure.
If you are viewing this SRC from the Product Activity Log (PAL) then the model will be listed near the top of the screen when view the details for
the PAL entry. Record the model and Contine with the next step in this procedure.
Record the resource name logged for the SRC. Go to Hardware Service Manager in SST/DST and select "Locate resource by resource name". Enter the
resource name you recorded. Select "Display detail" for that resource and record the model.
Is the device a model 005?
Yes - the device is a USB attached optical device being reported as a 6331 model 005 optical device. Before replacing parts ensure
that the device has power from other than the USB cable. Use the following failing item list:
