Adapter requirements

Depending on your configuration, there are many different adapters you can use.

If your system is managed by a Hardware Management Console (HMC), use the HMC to designate hardware resources.

Operations Console (LAN) supports the following adapters:

These adapters can be filled in the PCI Express (PCIe) slots.

These systems do not support a remote control panel that is directly attached to the server. However, you can use the virtual control panel connected over LAN for most control panel functions.

When the system is not managed by an HMC, the LAN console IOA must be in the same system node drawer or in the same I/O expansion drawer PCI module (same Py location value) as the alternate load source (ALS) IOA. The LAN console IOA can be located in any of the available system drawer or expansion drawer slots listed in the above table for this system type.
