By using the Hardware Management Console (HMC), you can configure
the MAC address controls of a virtual Ethernet adapter of a logical
partition during logical partition creation, during partition profile
modification, or when dynamically adding a virtual Ethernet adapter.
You can also specify controls to MAC address overrides that are specified
at the operating-system level.
To configure the MAC address controls by using the HMC when you are dynamically
adding a virtual Ethernet adapter to a logical partition, follow these
steps:
- In the navigation pane, open ,
and click the system on which the logical partition is located.
- In the work pane, select the logical partition on which
you want to configure the virtual Ethernet adapter, click the Tasks button,
and click .
- In the work pane, select the Ethernet Adapter to
be edited, click .
- Click the Advanced tab.
- If the Override check box is not selected,
then Auto-Assigned is displayed in the Default
MAC Address field.
- If the Override check box is selected,
type the MAC address for the virtual Ethernet adapter in the Custom
MAC Address field.
- Allow all or deny all operating-system-defined MAC addresses
by selecting from .
- To specify allowable operating-system-defined MAC addresses,
select Specify Allowable O/S Defined MAC Addresses.
Type the allowed MAC address in the Allowed MAC Address field
and click Add.
- To remove a specified operating-system-defined MAC addresses
from the Allowed MAC Address list, select the
MAC address that you want to remove from the list and click Remove.
- Click OK.
