IBM is excited to announce the December 13, 2022 release of IBM App Connect Enterprise SaaS on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud.

Speed, personalization and flexibility are key to remaining competitive in this rapidly changing digital business. Organizations must adapt their strategies to meet customer needs all while accelerating their adoption of emerging technologies in order to keep operations efficient. At IBM, we see business leaders are turning to automation, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to boost operational efficiency and respond to evolving customer expectations, while IT leaders are adopting cloud strategies to accelerate change and facilitate a hybrid work environment. According to a recent IDC Worldwide CEO survey, 95% of businesses who responded see the need to adopt a digital-first strategy, and majority of organizations are already moving down the path of executing their plans [1].

This rapid adoption of digital-first strategy has led to the proliferation of applications across the organization, both on-premises and on multiple clouds. According to the Worldwide Application Services survey, over 50% of organizations surveyed estimate that they now have more than 100 applications in their portfolio [2], and they are using a variety of cloud and SaaS applications to manage their day-to-day business operations. As the volume of applications continues to rise, connectivity across the ecosystem has become critical to ensure businesses remain competitive and are able to respond and adapt to market changes quickly.

Democratizing integration for business users and citizen developers

Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) is designed to connect people, processes and data across hybrid environments and accelerate innovation without dependency on potentially scarce technical integration experts.

iPaaS is attracting large organizations (along with midsize and smaller firms) due to its ease of access, versatility and low initial cost [3]. In Gartner’s Hype Cycle for Cloud Platform Services press release, Yefim Natis, distinguished VP analyst at Gartner says, “Organizations choose iPaaS to support rapid integration and automation of SaaS applications with other SaaS and on-premises applications and data sources. More recently, organizations are increasingly replacing classic integration platforms that are now considered too expensive and complex for modern integration delivery practices.” [3]

iPaaS is designed to help organizations accelerate integration initiatives using low-code and no-code development technologies that enable citizen integrators and business technologists to collaborate with IT integration specialists and deliver light to moderately complex integrations.
