Embedded in the IBM Cloud customer portal, you’ll now find new options for custom image support on IBM Cloud Bare Metal Servers.

You’ll now be able to achieve golden images on compatible hardware, saving you time and easing the work required with scaling and migration. The service feature is cost-free, and clients are only responsible for standard image storage costs of $0.25/GB. Custom Image Support is available on these operating systems: CentOS 7, CentOS 8, RHEL 7, RHEL 8, Ubuntu 16, Ubuntu 18, and Windows 2012 R2, 2016 and 2019.

Do you already have a server you want to capture and deploy?

  1. Verify that your server meets the requirements for image capture here.
  2. Create an image template by following the instructions found here.
  3. Navigate to the Image Library, click the Action Menu icon for your image template and select “Order Bare Metal.”
  4. After you’ve made all your selections, apply the promo code IMAGE10 to the right in your ‘order summary’ to get your 10% off. You’ll then see “IMAGE10 applied/Prorated initial charge $0.00.”

  1. Create an account from the IBM Cloud Bare Metal provisioning page here.
  2. Navigate to the IBM Cloud Bare Metal Catalog to select and customize your deployment.
  3. After you’ve made all your selections, apply the promo code IMAGE10 to the right in your ‘order summary’ to get your 10% off. You’ll see “IMAGE10 applied/Prorated initial charge $0.00.”
