Visit our major UK software lab at this free event

Hursley Lab is our biggest UK R&D site. Here’s where we invent and build the new technology that is changing the world.

Thousands of people come to Hursley every year for customer briefings, public sector discussions, training, hackathons, design sessions and developer events. Now you can visit too! Our Festival of Innovation on Thursday 19 September 2019 is free for anyone: clients, business partners, academics, developer advocates, and IBMers.

Register here.

Experience our smart technology, meet our brilliant people, and discover why we’ve been the innovation engine of IBM in the United Kingdom for over six decades.

We develop the software that keeps the modern world running today, whether that’s IBM CICS underpinning the world’s financial systems, or the latest developments in IBM Cloud Paks running on Red Hat. Our teams work on machine learning and AI,  automation, integration, multicloud management, blockchain, and the Internet of Things.

The Festival has over 80 engaging demos, talks, and tours to wow you. This is not a series of sales pitches: it’s a fun day to see and play and enjoy, showcasing the achievements and potential of our tech and our talent.

You’ll experience sporting tech, disaster relief, immersive gaming, intelligent fitness, open source innovation, software threat-hunting, high-performance computing, new hacking dangers, AI chat bots, our Mad Science zone, smarter workplace, IBM Research inventions for chemists and medicine and deep sea exploration… You’ll see how IBM business partners and universities are using our products in solutions and innovations of their own.

We’re continuing to add more content, so keep an eye on our agenda.

The Festival is hosted in the Grade II* listed 18th century mansion at the heart of our Lab, based in the Hampshire countryside between Winchester and Southampton. You’re welcome to see our beautiful location, including the House and Sunken Garden, as well as touring our Hyperscale Cloud Data Centre, Emerging Technology Lab, Internet of Things and Cognitive Labs, IBM Museum, and IBM Studio for design.
