A blogpost by Ioannis Gkalanakis and Viktor Jonsson

It was almost 77 days ago when this extreme internship started and since then our life changed. The summer of 2013 for us, the Extreme Blue interns, was a big adventure. We grew our skills, learned new ways of work and made new friends. However, despite we could spend the rest of this blog post speaking about the awesomeness of our internship, the time to fully reflect on this experience has not come yet. For the moment, all the teams are busy preparing their Grand Finale!

The show starts next week when all teams have to present their prototypes and business plans to their client. Out of the box thinking and creative ideas are needed again in order to communicate effectively with the audience how great each idea is. Moreover, surprise elements during the presentation target to create the “WOW effect”. Finally, brainstorm sessions start again in order to shoot a short video that will clearly explain our ideas in a nutshell.

The Extreme Blue European Expo is also approaching.  We are really excited for the trip in U.K. where we will meet other students that share similar experiences with us. Many extreme ideas will be presented and we are looking forward to hear what the other European teams have to offer. Presentations and pitches will be mixed with mingling and networking and we think it will be fun and challenging to pitch our ideas for other teams and IBM employees.

Our Grand Finale which includes these three big shows starts next week. Till then hard work is required in order to ensure that everything will run properly and our audience will be satisfied once every performance finishes.

2In the meanwhile, we had a surprise visit today by Harry van Dorenmalen, chairman of IBM Europe. He shared with us a powerful speech which covered subjects from career advises to work life balance.

1Today is also a big day for us as our 24 hours Extreme Blue “Lock-in” just started. We decided to lock ourselves a whole day and night in the extreme Blue Area of Amsterdam. We will enjoy pizza, drinks, video games and work hard as we are preparing for our Grand Finale!
