IBM creëert 350 nieuwe ICT-banen in Groningen

IBM creëert de komende drie jaar 350 banen in een nieuw servicecentrum in Groningen. Dat gebeurt in samenwerking met de plaatselijke hogeschool, universiteit en het Universitair Medisch Centrum, zo maakten de betrokken partijen woensdag bekend.
Arbeidsmarkt
Met hun samenwerking willen IBM en de opleidingsinstellingen opleidingen beter laten aansluiten op de arbeidsmarkt en inspelen op het dreigende tekort aan computerdeskundigen. Het datacentrum zal in dat verband banen aanbieden aan onder meer net afgestudeerde technologiestudenten. Ook worden er stageplekken geboden en is er ruimte voor studenten die werken aan een afstudeeropdracht.
In het servicecentrum zullen onder meer applicaties worden ontwikkeld en getest en andere programmeerwerkzaamheden worden uitgevoerd.
Schoolvoorbeeld
“Dit is een schoolvoorbeeld van hoe de samenwerking tussen bedrijfsleven, kennisinstellingen en de overheid zorgt voor extra banen en inkomsten”,stelde minister Henk Kamp van Economische Zaken. “Bovendien zorgt deze investering ervoor dat studenten de kennis en vaardigheden kunnen opdoen die een bedrijf als IBM nodig heeft.”
