‘Het is vandaag 10 10 10!’ , constateerde mijn dochter deze luie zondag verrast. Tja, hoe bijzonder… Wat levert zo’n datum nu op, buiten een trouwgolfje, vroegen we ons af. Wereldwijde Interconnectedness bijvoorbeeld. Maar ook hernieuwde en verdiende aandacht voor ‘The Powers of 10’, het klassieke korte filmpje dat Ray en Charles Eames in 1977 maakten in opdracht van IBM. De nazaten van het beroemde ontwerpersechtpaar organiseerden de ‘Powers of 10 Day’ (gesponsord door IBM). Waarom is en blijft het zo’n belangrijk filmpje? De Eames familie legt uit: ‘we believe that much of the magic and many of the problems of the world are matters of scale, and yet that we are not really wired to understand the extremes of scale — or even exponential change in general.We believe that having a deep understanding of scale makes us all better citizens of the world.’ (http://blog.powersof10.com/)
