Simplifying IT support management system, enhancing operational efficiency

We live in an age of digital disruption. In every industry, business leaders realize consumer demands and habits are shifting and tremendously impacting the way how they operate.

The world of radio is also changing – proliferation of new media channels, regulations, streaming platforms, diverse audience – but radio is still the leading reach platform. Many people cannot imagine the breakfast table or sitting in the car without listening their favourite radio program.

The power of radio has been especially visible in the last couple of months. It has proven to be a reliable source of live-saving information throughout COVID-19 pandemic. Statistics all around the world continue to highlight the traditional media as a popular choice for consumers who want to be informed and educated, but also to feel a sense of community and connection.

But this is not an easy goal to achieve – consumers need help to find the programming that constantly delights them and media companies need help matching content with audiences. To succeed, they must embrace technology to achieve personalization, revamp infrastructure to meet the coming demands and to reengineer business models for the new media landscape.

The Romanian public radio-broadcasting network – Radio Romania – has been recognized as the leading radio network in the country and a first choice of immediate relevance to Romanian citizens. For example, only Radio Romania Actualitati, the leading station from the network, had during last 4 months around 1,8 million/daily listeners alone.

That’s why for our company is of key importance to have a functional IT system with no interruptions to serve our customers 24×7. The need that we had was to find a provider that can offer integrated support for our complex environment and help us in increasing further operational efficiency.

We turned to IBM and partnered with IBM Services on our digital transformation journey focused on a project covering IT support services for integrated information system. In simple words, IBM helped us to simplify IT support management system together with our IT experts.

Today, all our hardware and software, from infrastructure to core application used for broadcasting are integrated. IBM helped us to manage complex IT environments, including non-IBM technologies, and secure: a functional system with no interruptions, cost savings, increased efficiency of operations and at the end enhanced customer satisfaction.

Through the externalization of IT services and by our partnership with IBM, we can now focus on our core business activities and allow our experts to focus on our transformation projects, having our system performing uninterruptedly and with optimised functionality.

IBM offers us IBM services experts and single source support across entire IT environment for virtually all hardware and software including open source.

We see this successful project as a first step on our digitalization journey and transition to new technologies like Cloud and AI which are today in the centre of transformation and a clear way to innovate and successfully compete in today’s fast changing world.
