Hello everybody! Allow me to introduce my new help in cooking! It is called Chef Watson and is a cognitive cooking application from IBM. I am extremely delighted with IBM Watson and I have to tell you some things about what does it mean. Fifteen years ago I wouldn’t have thought that one day I will benefit from such a help in the kitchen. We live amazing times and amazing things also happen in our lives! When I heard of such a cooking application from IBM I asked myself: “What is this?” My curiosity was fully awarded! I was recently thrilled to discover the application was extremely interesting and useful. It helps me a lot! If I choose to create a dish out of fish and shrimps, Watson will immediately generate the recipe! And if I don’t have the necessary ingredients, it will immediately find other ingredients, as close to the recipe as possible.

I chose to make “Catfish shellfish dish” (somon cu crustacee)! Watson provided me the perfect recipe – meaning it was extremely close to what I imagined. Although the ingredients suggested are not used often in Romanian cuisine, I had them all at hand. I chose a dish based on fish and shrimps due to the global trend toward healthy and natural food. And of all kind of meats, seafood and fish rank among the healthiest. I was guided in choosing ingredients; I was offered information about preparing and cooking times. Watson virtually tells you everything you need to do in order to achieve the perfect dish!

IBM Watson helps not only “chefs”, but everybody

Anybody can use Watson as a valuable and useful guide in his or her own kitchen, at home! I consider this thing as fabulous: IBM Chef Watson offers you any, and I stress on any, recipe prepared in the whole wide world – no matter the dish comes in its Italian or its Asian variety. IBM Watson does what a human being is not able to do: appeals the experiences of all “chefs”/users that tried the recipe you are looking for. Its creativity and availability know no limits! Yet do not ever think it will replace the “chefs” in restaurants or it will cook instead of you, while you do something else. No! It is a mere discreet and helpful presence in the kitchen. Watson does not put a recipe in practice; instead it defines it and offers you the information you need for a perfect result. Watson and I wish you a “healthy appetite!”
