Collaborating to eliminate the last obstacles for renewable energy

Share this post:

Most of us are well aware of the urgent need to transfer to renewable energy. Instead of debating whether wind and solar power are adequately efficient, discussions these days focus on the difficulty of matching power supply to consumption. In other words, today we cannot control or plan intermittent renewable electricity production, so it fits with society’s changing electricity needs. This challenge is one of the last obstacles we need to overcome to achieve a real shift to a sustainable, renewable energy system.

We cannot control either the weather or the seasons. However, with the help of in-depth knowledge of energy and meteorology in combination with the latest technology, such as AI and cloud, we can predict what the production of electricity from renewable sources will look like in real-time. In this way, we can provide valuable insights that electricity distributors can quickly respond to. As a result, we enable better conditions for more sustainable energy production. For us at Greenlytics, the journey has just begun. We have come a long way in combining knowledge, passion, technical know-how and determination. But we would not have come this far without the support of established players. We are proud to be part of Startup with IBM Accelerator Sweden. Together with IBM, we pair the stability and robustness of an established player with the innovation and flexibility of a startup. Greenlytics is an example of how small companies can accomplish fantastic things in collaboration with large enterprises when they reach out and offer not only their technical platforms but also their business acumen.

Watch the video about why Greenlytics moved to the IBM Public Cloud.

Three things, in particular, have helped make our cooperation with IBM and Startup with IBM so successful:

  • Personal contacts and a flexible approach – not only in terms of technology but with everything that concerns our business model.
  • Excellent support and technological solutions as well as long-term synergies, including joint projects and investment plans.
  • IBM’s view of startups differs from that of most large enterprises: they really want to create value to society, and the technological aspect are only one of many important factors in this regard.

Our journey toward the right business model has progressed much faster than expected thanks to the input we have received from the experienced IBM team. This includes the crucial cloud solution, but also all the other aspects related to creating, running, and managing a company. We still have a long way to go, but now we possess the tools needed to progress and pursue our dream of a better, more sustainable world by eliminating obstacles to renewable energy through empowering a smarter production.
