Did you miss out on IBM’s annual POWER-event? Don’t worry

This year’s IBM POWER event took place at Munkebjerg Hotel, August 27-28. The event gathered more than 140 industry leaders, IBM partners and IBM customers.

At the event the new POWER9 technology was launched as well as new high-end servers. The Munkebjerg event completes the transition from the POWER8 family and into the POWER9 and beyond.

IBM was well represented and celebrated their 30 year birthday this year (official day was 21st of June).

It is quite unique in the IT industry that customers can benefit of 30 years of innovation on the same platform: “30 years of innovation and we are just getting started”.

At Munkebjerg, several customer cases were also presented. Arla and NNIT demonstrated the benefits they have experienced by moving their SAP HANA environment from Intel’s x86 architecture to IBM POWER.

A highlight of this year’s event was the IBM Systems European manager, Ivo Körner, who presented “Why Systems Matters”. Another highlight was Costas Bekas‘, from the IBM Zürich Research Lab, presentation. He presented IBM’s research strategy underpinned by examples like the already now operational IBM Quantum computer.

Furthermore, Henrik Bodskov, IBM general manager, Denmark, presented IBM Denmark’s future initiatives.

Finally, Chris Parsons specialist in Artificial Intelligence from IBM UK, presented real customer examples where IBM POWER AI technology has been implemented in real success stories.

With more than 140 participants and a staggering number of 98% being so pleased with the event that; “they would like to participate next year”, assures us that this year’s IBM POWER event was somehow a success.

Therefore, we are pleased to announce that we are already starting to plan IBM Power, September 2019.

Information regarding IBM Power 2019 will, of course, follow on the blog as soon as we get closer to the date.

To everyone that we met at this year’s Power 2018: Thank you for joining!

To everyone else: We hope to see all of you next year: Keep yourself posted on the blog to see when next year’s event will be.
