IBM Cloud for Skytap Solutions

The Retail industry is facing increased demand for modernizing traditional, business critical applications. To deliver on these requirements, are not always easy and a new approach was needed. To begin assisting retail organizations with application modernization, IBM recently signed a contract with large, global retailer to help improve their innovation velocity by modernizing their approach to software development and release.
By combining IBM Cloud for Skytap Solutions (ICSS) and DevOps principles, the organization will be able to modernize their infrastructure and processes. This approach will enable them to more quickly and consistently create an automated self-service model to provision and de-provision software development and test environments for traditional applications, that were never intended to run in the cloud.
IBM and Skytap have created a strategic partnership, to modernize traditional applications to the cloud. Skytap Cloud modernizes applications across many industries and runs in IBM Cloud Datacenters, as well as its own datacenters around the world. Skytap Cloud is the only cloud provider that supports AIX on Power while also delivering support for Windows, Linux, and Solaris in multitenant and dedicated regions. Our partnership continues to grow, as Skytap also recently announced they will be integrating with native services from IBM Cloud.
Our approach to application modernization with ICSS and Skytap is to identify the needs of our customers and then meet them where they are. This approach enables us to help them modernize some or all of parts of their application. We accomplish this through Infrastructure, Process and Architecture (IPA) modernization so they can transform at their own pace while realizing value in every step of their journey.
