Ensure a successful transition to S/4HANA with IBM’s unique HANA Impact Assessment Tool.

The reasons for upgrading to SAP S/4HANA are manifold. It is the next generation digital ERP solution that uses an in-memory database to provide a real-time, connected, single source of truth for business data. It enables businesses to simplify complex legacy systems, digitise core business processes to drive efficiency, and bring big data and IoT to transactional processes for deeper insights to drive growth and innovation.

Transitioning from your current SAP ERP solution to S/4HANA can, however, seem difficult to initiate. How can you ensure that the full impact of the upgrade does not affect any crucial business processes? What is even required for your organisation to make the move to S/4HANA? How disruptive will the move be?

IBM offers a unique opportunity for you to asses and answers these exact questions concerning your organisation’s transition to S/4HANA through the HANA Impact Assessment. It will help you understand the value and impact of moving to the new system. With the tool we assess six key components of your migration, from which I will describe the three most important:

Functional Assessment: Here we begin by assessing the impact on your current business processes when moving. This helps us identify the S/4HANA innovations and build up the underlying business case for you to justify the move. We then categorise these impacts into three simple areas. What’s new? What has changed or been modified? And what becomes obsolete? We are able to identify deep levels of detail for more than 340 level 4 business processes.

S/4HANA Simplification Impact: Here we leverage SAP simplification database to highlight the programs and code impacted by the S/4HANA data structures. In addition to the simplification impact, we’re able to identify the highest areas of change that allow us to prioritise resource allocation during the implementation phase

Technical Assessment: Here we provide the inventory of the programs and code that are in your current system. We highlight the areas that are impacted and we can also tell you whether this code is used or unused. We assess the HANA database code impact and are able to tell you what you need to fix down to the line of code. In addition to the custom development analysis, we look at the impacts around security associated with the move to S/4HANA. Finally, we analyse the application versions and infrastructure requirements that may need to be addressed as part of the transition.

The three remaining components are Training, Testing and assessment of effort needed to execute the recommended actions.

The HANA Impact Assessment Tool is your starting point for a successful S/4HANA transformation journey. It is a market leading tool that helps customers rapidly identify opportunities to get, and stay ahead of the value curve.

Based on more than 100 HANA Impact Assessments, IBM has the knowledge and competencies to guide You and your organisation through your S/4HANA journey.
