New certifications and free training for first time cloud users
Ready to change your career trajectory? Consider earning cloud credentials.
The award-winning IBM Center for Cloud Training offers free training that leads to two IBM Cloud certifications: IBM Cloud Advocate and IBM Cloud Technical Advocate.
IBM Cloud is the cloud without compromise, with advanced capabilities for regulated industries, sensitive data and applications that run anywhere. Developing skills in IBM Cloud is a great way to get ready for exciting career opportunities in a rapidly growing field.

IBM Cloud Advocate learning path and certification
IBM Cloud Advocate is the recommended first learning path. Whether you’re new to cloud or new to IBM Cloud, it’s the easiest IBM Cloud certification to earn.
You’ll attend two free classes, which can be completed in about a day each:
- Introduction to Cloud
- IBM Cloud Essentials
Cloud Advocate classes have no prerequisites. They show you how to get a free IBM Cloud account and access free IBM Cloud services, so you can prepare for your certification exam.

IBM Cloud Technical Advocate learning path and certification
The IBM Cloud Technical Advocate learning path includes the Cloud Advocate classes, and adds two additional free classes:
- Building Cloud Native and Multicloud Applications
- Introduction to Containers, Kubernetes, and OpenShift
Cloud Technical Advocate classes, along with hands-on experience, prepare you for your IBM Cloud Technical Advocate certification exam.
IBM Cloud Solution Advisor learning path and IBM Cloud Foundations V2 certification
The IBM Cloud Solution Advisor learning path and its Cloud Foundations certification exam have been renamed to IBM Cloud Technical Advocate.
The certification exam, IBM Cloud Foundations V2, has been refreshed and renamed, which is why the IBM Cloud Technical Advocate exam is released at V3.
The training and certification subject matter remains the same. Learners preparing for the Cloud Solution Advisor certification should plan to take the IBM Cloud Technical Advocate exam instead.
No action is needed for those holding IBM Cloud Solution Advisor certifications.
What’s next for IBM Cloud Advocate and IBM Cloud Technical Advocate
Later this year, classes in the IBM Cloud Advocate and IBM Cloud Technical Advocate learning paths are scheduled to be refreshed. The updated classes will be hosted on IBM Training which should improve service levels.
