STEM for Girls Holiday Wishlist for Kids!

By December 14, 2021

Most likely, you already know science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) learning is a big part of modern education, but did you know that if children play with STEM toys, they are more likely to be interested in learning STEM?

There are plenty of reasons why kids should play with STEM toys. Here are our top 3!

1. Build confidence

Did you know many kids self-select out of STEM because they don’t think they’re capable? Exposing kids to STEM through play allows them to smash the notion that STEM is ‘too hard’.

2. Foster critical thinking and problem solving

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are so important when it comes to success in school and work, but also personal happiness. By exposing your kids to STEM, you can foster their creative thinking skills for when problems arise.

3. Promote a love for STEM

The best way to teach is to make whatever your teaching fun! STEM toys and games help associate these subjects with fun, freedom, and discovery. They associate complex learning concepts into simple ideas.

Our Favourite STEM Toys!

We’ve picked some must-have STEM toys to help show children that STEM education doesn’t have to be boring or difficult. Sit back and let them discover STEM through play!

Crystal Growing Science Experimental Kit

There are many fun and engaging science experiment kits out there, from kitchen science kits to volcano kits, to levitation science kits! This crystal growing kit not only teaches kids patience but lets them learn about beautiful crystals as they watch them grow.

LEGO creations come to life with LEGO Boost, a robot kit for kids! This kit allows your kid(s) to build and customize their own personal talking robot friend. Once the robot is built, that’s when the fun really starts as there are endless way to code its behaviour and complete fun activities.

Magna-Tiles

Every kid that I know is addicted to these things. These tiles help kids learn geometric concepts at school and at home by building two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional objects. This building set encourages open-ended play while kids work on spatial and tactile skills.

Artie 3000

Discover coding through art! Connect your tablet or computer to program Artie 3000 to draw their code creations. It’s easy to learn and cool to create with, and it also comes ready to draw with preprogrammed designs, shapes, and games.

Math for Love Prime Climb

For all the math lovers out there! This game is surprisingly a-lot of fun and a great way to build math skills! By taking time to think about your moves, you can do some pretty sly stuff that does indeed reveal some important concepts of number theory.
