The term “Digital Twin” is not a new one; nor is the concept. The challenge comes in producing a definition of Digital Twin which everyone can agree on.

As a result, the IBM Academy of Technology (AoT) embarked on an initiative to bring together experts from various parts of our global business to produce a definition by consensus, supported by a reference architecture and a maturity model, which can be used to frame conversations inside and outside of IBM.
