Starting 13 May 2022, Security and Compliance Center is now a paid service with Standard and Trial plans.

The IBM Cloud Security and Compliance team has completed our evaluation period and received overwhelming interest in the product’s capabilities. This milestone has allowed us to achieve the next step in our progression with the plans to introduce pricing.

What is the IBM Cloud Security and Compliance Center? The Security and Compliance Center is IBM Cloud’s answer for centralized security and compliance posture for enterprises needing to accelerate cloud adoption with regulated workloads. Security and compliance continues to be a main blocker for customers with regulated workloads to move to public or hybrid cloud. The Security and Compliance Center mission is to help IBM Cloud customers remove that blocker. To see how, take a look at this introductory video:

What plans are available?

On 13 May 2022, the Security and Compliance Center introduced the following pricing plan options:

  • Trial: To try out the service, you can enroll in a Trial period that allows you to access the full capabilities of the service for 30 days. You will see reminders in the service UI as the trial progresses that show the number of days remaining.
  • Standard: With a Standard plan, you are able to access the full capabilities of the Posture Management component, without being inhibited by a trial period. You are charged per evaluation.*

*An evaluation is the check of one goal against one resource that produces a result of pass or fail. When an evaluation passes, the resource is considered to be compliant with the goal at the time of the scan. If the scan fails, then the resource is non-compliant. Check the Plan page for current pricing and use the cost estimator to estimate your costs in your currency.

How can I get started?

To get started, navigate to the Security and Compliance Center UI. You can access the UI through the IBM Cloud Catalog, the main hamburger navigation or by clicking Manage > Security and Compliance in the header:

From there, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Plan page.
  2. Select the plan that you want to enable.
  3. Click Upgrade.

What should I expect as an existing user?

As an existing user (someone who has previously scheduled scans or enabled a third-party scope), be sure to keep the following dates in mind:

  • 13 May 2022: You were automatically enrolled in the Trial plan and your 30-day trial period began. Any scans that are already configured in your account will continue to run for the duration of your trial period.
  • 12 June 2022: On this date, if you have not yet upgraded to the Standard plan, your scheduled scans will stop, but you will not lose any scan configuration or results that you set up in IBM Cloud Security and Compliance Center. In order for your scans to restart automatically as scheduled and allow you to create new scans, you will simply need to upgrade your plan to the Standard plan.

Important: To ensure that your evaluations are not disrupted, be sure to upgrade to the Standard plan prior to 12 June 2022.
