Architecture with 3rd Gen AMD EPYC™ Processors

3rd Gen AMD EPYC™ Processors are the next step in CPU design. Whether you need a little or a lot of memory, you have options designed with your needs in mind, all driven by system-on-a-chip innovation, which allows compute and I/O components to develop independently. The no-sacrifice dual socket design, simply put, is designed to deliver exceptional performance.

3rd Gen AMD EPYC™ 7763 on IBM Cloud platform will feature: 

  • 64 cores per CPU (128 cores per server)
  • 128 threads per CPU (256 threads per server)
  • 64 GB to 4096 GB RAM per CPU
  • Base clock frequency of 2.45GHz with a maximum boost of up to 3.5GHz*
  • 8 memory channels per socket (up to 16 DIMMs per server)
  • Up to 10 local storage drives supported
  • Monthly, pay-as-you-use billing
  • Orderable via the global IBM Cloud Catalog, API or CLI

High core density for high-performance workloads

Visual effects, CGI (computer generated images) and cinematic rendering at the heart of many movies add the details that make them more realistic and immersive. AMD EPYC™ 7763 CPUs on IBM Cloud Bare Metal Servers are designed to excel in this space – built for clients to run at 4:1 memory/front side bus speeds, which are ideal specifications for video rendering.

For those rolling their own virtualized environments with partners like Citrix and VMware, the AMD EPYC™ 7763 on IBM Cloud Bare Metal Servers can help maximize the value of those environments. With 128 cores per dual processor, one has the option to deploy more virtual resources in order to help reduce their physical server footprint.
