IBM Cloud App ID’s new Lite plan

If you’ve been wanting to use a cloud-native service to authenticate your app users without providing a credit card, now you can.

IBM Cloud App ID just launched a new Lite plan as part of the IBM Cloud Lite account. The new Lite plan lets you try App ID for free.

What is App ID?

App ID is a service that helps you add user authentication to the mobile and web apps you are building and protect your APIs and back-ends running on IBM Cloud. In your consumer apps, users will be able to sign up through your app and log in with the credentials that they set or use social login (e.g., Facebook and Google). In your employee apps, employees will be able to log in to your app with their enterprise credentials via SAML 2.0 federation. In any type of app, App ID lets you create user profiles so you can build personalized app experiences.

What’s included in the Lite plan?

The Lite plan for App ID supports 1,000 authentication events for free per month through your app or 1,000 app users, whichever cap you reach first. As part of the Lite plan, you will be able to try out all of App ID’s capabilities. Of course, if you like App ID, you can always add your credit card to your IBM Cloud account. App ID has a tiered pricing plan with an initial free tier—your first 1,000 monthly events and first overall 1,000 users are free even then.
