“With our mobile cloud solution, we are doing for phones what Windows did for the PC.” Ananth Siva, Chief Customer Officer, Movius

What’s the news?

Movius provides a capability for smart phones (enabled by IBM’s global cloud infrastructure) that creates, in essence, a phone within a phone.

Movius is a mobile cloud provider whose MultiLine solution is a radical idea that changes the way mobility can be deployed. Selling to dynamic organizations from the Fortune 500 to SMBs, Movius is experiencing rapid growth thanks to their partnership with IBM Cloud and IBM Watson.

The telecom market landscape is changing

Since the explosion of the Smart Phone era, when highly capable devices became integral to most consumers’ lives and personalities, old ideas about business phones versus personal phones have died a rapid death. Many companies now are encouraging employees to bring their own device (BYOD). Some organizations have banned personal devices, and others offer COPE devices (Corporate Owned, Personally Enabled), by providing specific, corporate-approved devices to employees while allowing the user some limited degree of personal flexibility in its use. Both scenarios lack security, manageability and can be inconvenient to say the least.

Movius examined this problem, the existing solutions, and the underlying capabilities of phone technology and concluded there must be a third and better way—a solution they have now had on the market since 2017, called MultiLine.

A better solution to BYOD

Simple to describe but a technological breakthrough in fact, Movius provides a capability for smart phones (enabled by IBM’s global cloud infrastructure) that essentially creates a phone within a phone.

“We are disrupting the whole way people live and work using our mobile cloud solution,” said Ananth Siva, Movius, Chief Customer Officer. “Through our solution, MultiLine, we are fundamentally able to take what was historically considered available to companies and divisions, with work and personal as two separate entities, and fuse them into one device,” Siva explained. “It is a comprehensive solution that is easy to use and to deploy and incredibly robust in its security and separation.”

Organizations in the Telco industry have taken notice. Movius has been very strategic in forming key Tier 1 carrier partnerships which include Sprint in the USA, Telefónica in Latin America, and Telstra in Europe and Asia Pacific. Siva draws a comparison between Movius technology and the breakthrough multi-tasking Windows software that brought intelligence and usability to the prosaic personal computer. With our mobile cloud solution, we are doing for phones what Windows did for the PC,” said Mr. Siva.

How MultiLine is disrupting the industry

Movius’ powerful applications provide separate, high-quality work mobile phone lines on any mobile device with their own corporate phone numbers, putting users in charge while giving businesses all their most crucial requirements affordably. The Movius platform currently serves more than 70 million people globally.

For companies, Movius has provided reduced mobility costs by eliminating spending on devices and radically reducing infrastructure, management, support and service costs. Operational control and compliance are also enhanced. For employees, choice is the key. They get to pick and keep the phones they love without having to carry two devices or worry about complex procedures.

 What else can it do?

The Movius platform offers features like contact lists, caller ID, and mobile recording for the corporate-managed number. Those features can be applied to any carrier, plan, or mobile device.

“We are able to provide that capability and all our deliverables through hosting on IBM Cloud and delivery through our partners who are among the leading global telco carriers,” said Siva.

Industry domination

Moving ahead, Siva anticipates more adoption in healthcare, travel and transport, professional services, and within the SMB sector. “Those who want to be disruptors have embraced our technology and will continue to do so,” said Siva. “Ultimately, everyone is either employer or employee and everyone needs the multiple personas that Movius MultiLine solves through our strategic carrier partners,” he added.

The power of the IBM name

“In addition to providing rock-solid, reliable, global cloud services, partnering with IBM also helped ratify acceptance for Movius as it marketed across banking, finance, and other large verticals where IBM is recognized and valued.”– Ananth Siva, Chief Customer Officer, Movius
