North Star BlueScope Steel recently partnered with Watson IoT on wearable safety technology that helps employees stay safe in dangerous environments. By analyzing data collected from IoT sensors worn by users and embedded in their personal protective equipment, supervisors can continuously monitor workers’ skin temperatures, heart rates and levels of activity to correlate health conditions with sensor data on ambient temperature and humidity. The data can then be used to provide personalized safety guidelines, advising workers when to take a break if temperatures rise to unsafe levels.
