Infor M3 7.1 Large User Scaling on IBM i

Abstract

This paper describes testing that was done to test flexibility, integration, and scalability of the new Infor M3 7.1 running on a System i server. Infor M3 is a supplier of collaboration software which focuses on the manufacturing, maintenance, and distribution industries. The Infor M3 ERP solution described in this white paper is a Java™-based application which runs on IBM i. To demonstrate the abilities of Infor M3 7.1, the M3 Order Entry Benchmark kit was used to simulate key elements of a typical customer transaction. The goal is to show a realistic number of users running each server configuration and measure the results. The scenarios were run using the i5/OS® operation system, version V5R4, and the new IBM Technology for Java virtual machine, or IT4J, available in V5R4. All Infor M3 applications were installed on the same System i server. Several different scenarios were run to show the performance and scalability of Infor M3 7.1 running on a System i server.
