Change Management Interface: policies for allowing checkin and setact operations with invalid task associations

Question & Answer

Question

In terms of attempted checkin and setact operations that are associated with invalid tasks, what is the difference between the base ClearCase and UCM integrations with Change Management Interface (CMI) task providers?

Answer

In the base ClearCase integrations with (CMI) task providers, a checkin operation is not blocked if the associated task is invalid. In UCM integrations with CMI task providers, you can configure CMI either to block or permit setact operations that are associated with invalid tasks. These behaviors do not vary according to user interface: ClearTeam Explorer (CTE), the native GUIs, and the command-line work the same in this respect.
