IT41791: MAINTENANCE MISTAKENLY REMOVES INCREMENTAL FLASHCOPY VOLUMES

Error description

• IBM Spectrum Copy Data Management creates an incremental
  flashcopy volume during an incremental flashcopy backup job.
  The maintenance job mistaken deletes this volume during the
  condense procedure causing all backups to be deleted.
  
  Affected versions: IBM Spectrum Copy Data Management 2.2.15.0
  and later

Local fix

• To prevent the problem after upgrading from SCDM 2.2.15.x to
  SCDM 2.2.16.0, make sure that backup jobs run and complete
  before a maintenance job starts.

Problem conclusion

• IBM Spectrum Copy Data Management catalog is now correctly
  storing the incremental flashcopy volume data. The maintenance
  job is not deleting the incremental flashcopy volume anymore but
  condensing the flashcopy snapshot that is created from the
  incremental flashcopy volume.
