      ERROR,<TimeStamp>,CTGGA0939,Failed to reconfigure VM
                                  (<TargetSourceVMName>).
            Exception (com.catalogic.ecx.serviceprovider.common.
                       hypervisor.exception.
                       HypervisorVMReconfException)
reports: (The object or item referred to could not be
                      found.)

This does not indicate to the administrator which item is not
    found.
Only in the vCenter event log, when looking for the events for
the new restore target VMware guest, the cause of the error is
seen at the 'Reconfigure Virtual Machine' step.
In the above example, the error detail says :
'The object or item referred to could not be found. DVS <DVS Id>
     cannot be found'

This means the Dynamic Virtual Switch (DVS) recorded at the time
of backup does not exist anymore in the current vSphere
    environment.
The job log messaging should include information about the
missing item to help the administrator to correct the problem.

IBM Spectrum Protect Plus Versions Affected:
    IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.x

Additional Keywords: SPP, SPPLUS, TS009989618, reconfigure,
                         missing

Local fix

  • Local Fix:
Review the vCenter event log to identify the missing item.
Depending on the desired outcome :
Recreate the missing item in the vSphere environment
    or
Restore the guest with alternate parameters
(different ESXi, Datastore, Network,..) to values existing in
    the current vSphere environment.
