Error description

  • When attempting to generate datacenter occupancy reports from
the IBM Spectrum Protect for Virtual Environment - Data
Protection for VMware web GUI (TsmVMwareUI), accessed through
    https://hostname:9081/TsmVMwareUI/#reports fails with the
    message:
"Error occurred and data cannot be displayed."

    The
occupancy select command does not report any error neither in
the messages.log nor in the actlog.
    Running select query
    (SELECT NODE_NAME,COUNT(distinct filespace_name) AS
"VMS",SUM(REPORTING_MB) AS "RPTG" FROM OCCUPANCY WHERE
NODE_NAME='<datacenter_node_name>' GROUP BY NODE_NAME) on the
server side, the output is retrieved without any errors.

    The
Guitrace_error.log located the proxy host in the following
    paths :
    On Windows :
    C:\IBM\SpectrumProtect\webserver\usr\servers\veProfile\logs
     On
    Linux : /opt/tivoli/tsm/tdpvmware/common/webserver/usr/servers/v
    eProfile/logs
    will show:
    <timestamp> srv-datamover-1.admin.nc
    IP com.tivoli.tsm.vmware.tsmsrv.TsmDCOccupancy.process(): FFDC
    java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string:
    "94677041,93"

The above happens when the IBM Spectrum Protect
server language setting is defined to a value different from
    en_US.
In this example it is set to fr_FR.
    In that case, the
numbers reported in the output of the select command use the
comma ?,? to separate decimals as opposed to a dot ?.? in the
    en_US format.
The IBM Spectrum Protect for Virtual Environment
    - Data Protection for VMware web GUI is incorrectly expecting
the en_US number format from the Spectrum Protect server even
if the locale of the proxy host is set to the same locale as
the server (fr_FR in this example).

    IBM Spectrum Protect
    Versions Affected:
    IBM Spectrum Protect for Virtual
Environments component Data Protection for VMware all versions
    on all supported platforms
    Initial Impact: Low

Local fix

  • Please set LANGUAGE server option to English locale: en_US.
