IT41357: 'SERVERADMIN' PASSWORD RESET PROCEDURE NEEDS TO BE IMPROVED ABOUT THE SMB PASSWORD FOR VSNAP HOSTS

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The IBM Spectrum Protect plus documentation about the
  'serveradmin' user reset procedure needs to be improved to
  include a step to ensure the SMB user password for
  'serveradmin' is synchronized with the OS password on a vSnap.
  SMB password for the user ?serveradmin? on the IBM Spectrum
  Protect Plus appliance is not needed as no network shares are
  create/used on the appliance.

Local fix

• To ensure both the ?serveradmin? user OS and SMB passwords are
  synchronized, use the following command on the vSnap host :
  vsnap user update --username serveradmin --password <password
  set with the reset procedure> --new_password <new password>

Problem conclusion

• Implemented a new CLI command "vsnap user resyncsmbpass" which
  can be used after manually resetting the operating system
  password. The new "resyncsmbpass" command ensures that the SMB
  password is updated to be in sync with the OS password. The
  documentation has been updated to include information about this
  new command.
