IBM Content Manager, Version 8.5

Planning your installation tasks according to configuration scenarios

You can configure a Content Manager EE system in many different ways. For example, you can have all components on a single system (as you might do for your first prototype Content Manager EE system) or each component on its own workstation, on different operating systems.

Each of the following scenarios presents a different configuration for a fictitious insurance company called XYZ Insurance. The scenarios illustrate different ways a Content Manager EE system, and its components, can be implemented. Use these examples to help you plan, administer, and implement your content management solution.

For each scenario, you can set up the various computers in any order. However, for each computer, install the required software in the specified order.

Important: In all of the examples, DB2 Universal Database™ is used to describe database connections and operation. You can substitute an equivalent Oracle product name in the text. The equivalent Oracle software name is shown in the tables within each scenario.

XYZ Insurance is a fictitious auto insurance company that has an extensive collection of photographs, claims, policies, adjuster's notes, reports from experts, and other documents. It is an organization with offices in various locations around the country. Employees need quick access to documents that are stored in various media at different locations.
