This new version includes features that improve the overall
quality of the product.
The following functions have been added for Rational® Programming Patterns Version 9.1.1.
New publishing feature
- The instances of the Volume entity can now be migrated, modified,
and created in Rational Programming
Patterns.
- A Volume is constituted of titles and instance descriptions that
can be explicitly called or dynamically retrieved by requests according
to selection criteria.
- The call of a Text instance can be filtered at a section level.
- The call lines of Model entities are not managed.
Usability enhancements
- It is now possible to duplicate a whole Program, Screen, or Server,
with all its associated generated files. Duplication was previously
available for the instance design only.
- New wizards are available to create custom quality rules.
- Two new entities make it easier to manage the error messages and
the copybooks.
- A new Generation Manager view indicates
all the instances that must be generated again in the workspace. It
detects the instances whose code is not synchronized with the design
of the instance itself or of an instance that is involved in its generation.
This new view makes it easy to request a multiple or global regeneration.
Ergonomics improvements
- The presentation of the differences in the design compare editor
has been enhanced. All the information that is needed to optimize
the comparisons is now displayed.
- A new Load artifacts option is now available
from the result view of a design, an artifact, or a reference search
on the Rational Team Concert™ server. It is used to load one or more selected
artifacts without loading their required artifacts.
- The design and artifact searches on the Rational Team Concert server
now run in an asynchronous mode. You can then keep on working while
the search runs in the background.
- A new criterion in the Design Explorer view
sorts the projects according to their position in the hierarchy of
the design build path.
Enhancements of the migration procedures
- The MIAM migration procedure detects some error
types in Pacbase and
automatically corrects them before the migration.
- The migration time of several sessions has been optimized. All
the artifacts of the first session are loaded but only the new or
modified artifacts of the next session are loaded.
- The migration validation can now be started in batch mode. It
can be run automatically by the migration help feature to simplify
the migration tasks.
- The UTOV procedure detects the multiple existence
of an instance in the Libraries of a network. It removes all the redundant
cases.
Rational Programming
Patterns Software Development Kit (SDK)
The data dictionary
that supports the native COBOL developments has been enhanced. Generic
skeletons that are not necessarily related to the COBOL language can
be defined. To manage these skeletons, a new Source Code entity has
been created.
To edit the generated code of these new entities,
a source code editor is now available.
