Manage your storage environment to help you support General Data Protection Regulation compliance strategies

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), effective as of 25 May 2018, is designed to harmonize data privacy requirements across the European Union (EU). You can use existing features of IBM Spectrum Protect™ and enhancements that are delivered with IBM Spectrum Protect Version 8.1.5 to help you manage your storage environment to support GDPR compliance strategies.

IBM Spectrum Protect Version 8.1.5 delivers enhancements to allow for an audit trail that you can use to track deletions from the server. These enhancements, together with existing IBM Spectrum Protect functions for deleting data on the server and backup-archive client, can help you comply with the GDPR Article 17, "Right to erasure (right to be forgotten)." Also, existing functions, such as Transport Layer Security (TLS), which enables secure communication of data, can help you comply with Article 32, "Security of processing."
