Use cloud tiering for long-term data retention

With IBM Spectrum Protect™ Version 8.1.3, you can use cloud tiering to move data that is accessed infrequently to a cloud-container storage pool.

You can configure IBM Spectrum Protect to store operational data on high-performance disk and then move the data to cloud-container storage pools as it ages. The cloud-container storage pools can be configured for on-premises or off-premises storage on a Microsoft Azure cloud computing system or a cloud computing system with the Simple Storage Service (S3) protocol.

To schedule cloud tiering between storage pools, use one of the following methods:
  • In the IBM Spectrum Protect Operations Center, click Storage > Tiering Rules.
  • Run the DEFINE STGRULE command.
