Back up and restore the server database by using cloud object storage

With IBM Spectrum Protect Version 8.1.10, you can back up the IBM Spectrum Protect server database to cloud object storage. The database backup can be either encrypted or unencrypted. You can also restore the database from cloud object storage.

To back up server database volumes to object storage, you must define a cloud connection and a device class of type CLOUD. Cloud credentials will be used by the new device class. Device configuration, volume history, and other critical files are copied to object storage during the backup operation. These files can be used later, during restore operations such as disaster recovery.

An IBM Spectrum Protect server database can be restored from object storage either to a state at a specified point in time or to its most current state.
