Convert a tape storage pool to a container storage pool
With IBM Spectrum Protect™ Version 8.1, you can convert a storage pool that uses a tape device class to a directory-container or cloud-container storage pool.
By converting storage pools to container storage pools, you remove the need for volume reclamation. In this way, you can improve server performance and reduce the amount of required storage hardware. Data that is stored in container storage pools can use both inline data deduplication and inline compression.
