Installing available updates for Network IPS

Use the Network IPS Local Management Interface to install updates that are available for the intrusion prevention or the firmware on your Network IPS appliance.

Before you begin

Create a system backup before you install any firmware updates so that you have a system backup before each automatic firmware update installation:
  1. In the Network IPS Local Management Interface, select Manage System Settings > Updates and Licensing > Update Settings.
  2. Click the Update Settings tab.
  3. In the Firmware Updates area, enable Perform Full System Backup Before Installation.
  4. Complete any information that appears on the Update Settings tab.

Procedure

  1. In the Network IPS Local Management Interface, select Manage System Settings > Updates and Licensing > Administration.
  2. Click the appropriate tab: Firmware or Intrusion Prevention.
    Note: Some firmware updates require you to restart the Network IPS appliance. For more information about product issues and updates, see the readme file for your version of Network IPS available from the IBM® Security License Key and Download Center at https://ibmss.flexnetoperations.com/.
  3. If updates are available, click Install Update.
