IBM Support

When running ccmsrv commands in Rational Synergy you get error: ccm_platform: unrecognized host architecture

Troubleshooting

Problem

When running any IBM Rational Synergy commands that call the ccm_platform file, you get an error, unrecognized host architecture. The issue happens on Solaris only.

Symptom

The ccmsrv commands will fail with errors like this:

ccmsrv status
ccm_platform: unrecognized host architecture.
:$ ccmsrv quiet
ccm_platform: unrecognized host architecture.

Cause

After upgrading the Oracle Solaris patches to at least the following, the machid util "sun" is documented as obsolete and causes the ccm_platform script to fail.

SunOS  5.10 Generic_147440-03 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V240

The man page for the 'sun' command indicates that "the machid family of commands
is obsolete"

This issue has been reported as defect APAR PM50024.

Environment

Solaris 10 Servers

Diagnosing The Problem

If the server has been patched with the most recent Oracle Solaris patches, the above error will occur without using a workaround script for ccm_platform.

Resolving The Problem

This issue is resolved in Synergy 7.1.0.5
