dbcheck reports the error: node is not referenced by either the b-tree or delete chain

Troubleshooting


Problem

This technote describes an error, node is not referenced by either the b-tree or delete chain, which is falsely reported when using the IBM Rational ClearCase dbcheck command.

Symptom


dbcheck may report the following errors when running against the VOB database.

Or

Problems at node 17601:

  * delete chain's next-pointer=-1 is out of range

Cause


This issue is caused by defect APAR PM11614 which has been resolved in ClearCase version 7.1.1.3.

Resolving The Problem

Upgrade to ClearCase version 7.1.1.3.

A workaround is also available in technote 1363980.
