Question & Answer
Question
How do you install IBM Rational Rhapsody on Microsoft Windows 7 with all installation files in a single folder structure?
Cause
By default in Microsoft Windows 7 the installation files are split between two folders,
- One Rhapsody program folder
- One folder under User
The default for Microsoft Windows XP is to install the Rational Rhapsody under a single folder. A lot of users prefer this.
Answer
To change the installation options do the following:
- Before you run the installation, in the Windows Control panel set the IgnoreAllUsersProfile=TRUE as a System environment variable
- Run the installation setup.exe "as administrator"
- Remove the environment variable after the installation has completed (so as not to affect other installations).
For Rational Rhapsody version 7.6.x and 8.x you do not need to set an external environment variable. In the installation dialog there is an option to choose if you want to install all files into one folder.
