• Closed as Permanent restriction.

Error description

• 1. Install Outlook 2003.
  2. Created profiles in the Outlook 2003.
  The Details of the profiles is as following:-
  For Microsoft Exchange Server Account

  Server Name : ctgqemail
  username : email_auto_cq1
  Password : email_auto_cq1
  For POP3, SMTP
  ==============
  Name :- acct1
  Email Address :- email_auto_cq1@ctgqemail.com
  User Name :- email_auto_cq1
  password : email_auto_cq1
  Incoming mail server (POP3) :- ctgqemail
  Outgoing mail server  (SMTP):- ctgqemail
  Test account Setting -It Works Fine.
  3. Created some e-mai rules. (ex: one rule for Sumbit)
  4. In the CQ Client, View --? E-mail Options, selected MAPI and
  Pressed Next and selected the Profile created above.
  5. When I submit a new defect, the Defect throughs an error abou
  t MAPI.
  6. Find the attached snapshots of MAPI config profile and error
  message .
  Other Comments

  The same Email Rules work fine when I use normal SMTP setting in
  stead of MAPI in View--?Email options. and use a standalone SMTP
   server.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• After setting up MAPI, ClearQuest email notifications do not
  work.
  

Problem conclusion

• The original problem was caused by an incorrect MAPI setup,
  not a problem in ClearQuest.  There was also a complaint
  that the error message is confusing.  Since we have not seen
  this issue reported by others in the last two years, it does
  not appear to be a significant issue for most users.  We
  therefore do not plan to fix this possible deficiency.
