Understanding ClearCase UCM Deliver Dependencies

White Papers

Abstract

Is there more in-depth information documented on deliver dependencies in IBM® Rational® ClearCase® UCM?

Content

A UCM dependency is created as soon as one or more element versions depend on one or more other element versions. The dependencies create restrictions, which are often discovered when performing a UCM deliver operation.

Change Set Dependencies

For example, change set dependencies are probably the most common (and most understandable) form of activity dependencies.

Figure 2, an illustration from the white paper, shows that Activity B cannot be delivered to the Integration stream without also including Activity A.
