A new era of security based on open source technology and standards.

Earlier this year, IBM introduced Cloud Paks to help organizations on their journey to cloud. Regardless of where they are on their journey, most enterprises are faced with daunting security challenges. The common theme we hear from security leaders is they have too many tools, too much data, and a growing skills gap.

Security teams typically purchase new tools with the goal of solving new problems. With each new tool, the amount of security data they need to review and investigate increases. Then, with data spread across multiple different tools, clouds, and on-premises environments, trying to understand their risk becomes a challenge. We’ve seen many teams try to solve this through costly and complex integrations—or, in some cases, by relying on individuals as ‘human glue’ to pull information together.

The real concern raised by these challenges is that threats can be missed or overlooked, putting the business at risk.

Today, we are helping organizations tackle these challenges head on and ushering in a new era of security based on open source technology and standards. IBM Cloud Pak for Security is a platform that integrates your existing security tools to offer deeper insights into threats across hybrid multicloud environments, using an infrastructure-independent common operating environment that runs anywhere. Security teams can quickly search for threats and orchestrate response with automated actions—without moving the underlying data.

Gain security insights without moving your data

Moving data in order to analyze it often drives untenable cost, complexity, and compliance issues. Cloud Pak for Security connects all your data sources—helping you uncover hidden threats and make more informed, risk-based decisions—while leaving the data where it resides. More specifically, the solution uses a combination of open standards and IBM innovation to search for threat indicators across any cloud or on-premises location.

Respond quickly to security incidents with automation

Once a threat has been identified, Cloud Pak for Security helps connect workflows with a unified interface to help teams respond quickly. It gives teams the power to orchestrate their responses and automate actions in connection with security incidents. This can allow teams to save time and focus on higher-value activities.

Run anywhere and connect openly

Finally, IBM Cloud Pak for Security is built on open, cloud native technology that is pre-integrated with Red Hat OpenShift. That means the solution can be deployed and run on any environment, whether that is on-premises or on cloud.

Additionally, as a co-founder of the OASIS Open Cybersecurity Alliance, IBM has forged partnerships with dozens of companies to promote interoperability and help reduce vendor lock-in across the security community through co-developed open source technologies.

Probable Root Cause: Accelerating incident remediation with causal AI

5 min read - It has been proven time and time again that a business application’s outages are very costly. The estimated cost of an average downtime can run USD 50,000 to 500,000 per hour, and more as businesses are actively moving to digitization. The complexity of applications is growing as well, so Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) require hours—and sometimes days—to identify and resolve problems.   To alleviate this problem, we have introduced the new feature Probable Root Cause as part of Intelligent Incident…
